About Ian Arthur
Based to the north of Glasgow, I am a full time photographer and work throughout Scotland and the UK – and globally if required. I’ve been a full-time photographer for over 30 years and have the experience and skills to produce images which are creative, professional and time lasting.
I started my working life as marine engineer, but then started to record my travels with a camera. Eventually my hobby became a obsession, so after deciding to re-train I became qualified as a professional photographer in 1983, and then in 1987 I went on to qualify as an Associate in the British Institute of Professional Photography.
Over the past three decades I have worked continuously in all aspects of photography, photographing all kinds of subjects in all kinds of environments for all kinds of reasons. My experience has given me a very rounded skill-base and is one of the reasons why I don’t specialise in one area of photography. Most of all, its taught me to be adaptable and flexible, and that the best kinds of commercial images are those that are simple in their content and delivery.
